    Perform cartographic finishing, feature extraction, and data content management to customer data standards and in accordance with project specific guidance. Manage a geospatial database. Perform QA/QC functions and correct data call errors. Compile, segregate, evaluate, research, interpret, analyze, and disseminate intelligence information to support operations. Prepare, maintain, and present intelligence displays, reports, and briefings with the creation and use of visual aids and drafting, editing, and proofreading documents for publishing. 

    Required Skills and Education:

    - Knowledge of CIB1, TLMs, MGCP products, MDG, DTED, SRTM, in boundary recovery processes. 
    - Knowledge of feature data extraction; attribution process and cartographic finishing techniques. 
    - Proficient in ArcGIS, Socet-Set, RemoteView, or comparable ELT software. 
    - Superior knowledge of geospatial database content management. 
    - Experience with FME, ESRI extract, transform, and load (ETL) tools, or similar software extensions. 
    - Experience with GAIT, ArcGIS Data ReViewer, or comparable geospatial data inspection software.
    - Superior knowledge on intelligence organizations and systems; collection and reporting systems, intelligence information sources; techniques of identifying, collating, evaluating, and analyzing information. 
    - Superior knowledge of geographical and cultural aspects of foreign countries. 
    - Proven ability to develop production schedules and deliver customer requirements on-time or ahead of schedule and proven ability to work independently with minimal oversight. 
    - Experience in combining digital cartography, computer technology, GIS, cartographic and geospatial production techniques, remote sensing, photogrammetry, and digital data formats. 
    - Experience working with geospatial data in a multi-user enterprise environment. 
    - Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. 

    Preferred Skills and Education:
    - Experience using data mining tools; open source research methods; understanding of military capabilities weapon systems; application engineering, system administration, or software configuration of industry standard geospatial analysis and production software; experience with Oracle Spatial or ArcSDE. 

    - Knowledge of python scripting to streamline and automate routine production processes.

    The Onyx Group is seeking a full time Facilities Planner with strong GIS background for its Honolulu office.  The successful candidate will have 2-5 years’ experience, and support the office on Department of Defense projects focusing on facilities data collection, data reconciliation and maintenance. The candidate will support project requirements for GPS field work, Quality Assurance and Quality Control of data, and technical reports to support daily and ongoing project activities. Knowledge of government structure and process, as well as official Navy guidance and local policies applicable to iNFADS development, review and approval is a plus. Some travel may be required.

    Required qualifications include:

    • -        A 4-year degree in urban planning; natural, physical, or environmental science; landscape architecture; or other related field.

    Duties Summary

    DUTIES: Coordinates geo-databases in support of DOFAW programs including: Forestry, Wildlife & Hunting, Native Ecosystem Protection and Management, Na Ala Hele Trails and Access, Watershed Partnership and Protection, Invasive Species, Forest Health, Threatened and Endangered Species (invertebrates, animals and plants) and Wildfire & Natural Disaster response teams.     PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with relevant coursework in information science, computer science, GIS focused programs and/or related field. EXPERIENCE: Three to five (3-5) years of working experience with Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) software products including but not limited to ArcGIS mapping software, Arc Info (UNIX based systems) and/or ERDAS Imagine (version 8.1 or later). Two to three (2-3) years of experience in managing and programming geo-database systems with Microsoft Access or other spreadsheet software used to manage specific databases such as threatened and endangered species, invasive species and other relevant large and complex databases. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Extensive knowledge of word processing, database software and computer hardware products. Extensive knowledge GIS databases and applications.     Job Description: Perform geospatial and nongeospatial tasks as a GIS Technician working with a GIS Analyst and other GIS technicians in a team setting. GIS projects will include development of GIS layers, loading and editing GIS data, performing basic mapping and metadata authoring. Field work at various locations will also be required using a Trimble mapping grade GPS. The data and photos gathered will be integrated into various products in support of GIS development. Will develop geospatial products and provide consolidated database and custom reports. Complete assigned tasks using GIS software packages and other database software and other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    This is an entry level position with development potential. The ideal candidate will be a team player, good listener, quick learner, and motivated to learn.

    Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office and have some experience using ArcGIS products. Other geospatial software used in this office includes SDSFIE tools, ERDAS Imagine, Trimble GPS software, and Adobe Photoshop.

    Must have good communications and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, to interface with managers, engineers, scientists and other personnel.
